MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Most months, since 2009, Roger has volunteered his time to Boston Children's Hospital through Flashes of Hope to create uplifting portraits of children fighting cancer.
Flashes of Hope is a national non-profit organization and is partnered with over 70 world-class hospitals throughout the US and has photographed over 45,000 children since it was founded in 2001.
By focusing on the child, Roger's portraits put cancer in the background.
For a few moments, it doesn't seem like a hospital. Children who haven't wanted to get out of bed are suddenly smiling & laughing.
To see a child smile, when there isn't much to smile about, is an amazing experience.
For families of these children, it's especially important to have a portrait that shows the beauty, courage & dignity of their child.
There is hope & strength in each extraordinary smile. The portraits are an everyday reminder of what matters most.
Roger knows that kids with cancer are still just kids... and parents of these kids know that you don't get a second chance to capture a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
